Cooperation between Bulgaria and Türkiye is crucial for security in the region, said Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov at his meeting with Muhsin Şentürk, Chief Public Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeals of Türkiye. Rossen Jeliazkov received Muhsin Şentürk today at the Prime Minister’s Office as an expression of the excellent bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Türkiye.

 

Partnership is always based on trust, said Prime Minister Rossen Jeliazkov during the meeting. He noted that all forms of bilateral cooperation are at the highest level and emphasized in particular the fruitful political dialog and the good partnership between the agencies of the two countries. The result is more guarantees for the security not just of Bulgaria and Türkiye but also of Europe owing to the successful counteraction of illicit migration and the protection of the common border which is also an external border of the European Union. In addition, the focus of attention of the two countries is the safety of shipping in the Black Sea and the effective operations of the mine countermeasures task group in cooperation with Romania. The joint efforts of the naval forces of Bulgaria, Romania and Türkiye are recognized as an example of cooperation and coordination in the complicated geopolitical situation.

 

Rossen Jeliazkov and Muhsin Şentürk agreed on the enormous role of the joint efforts of Bulgaria and Türkiye in the fight against transnational crime, terrorism, drug trafficking, money laundering, the trafficking in human beings, and tobacco and oil smuggling. During the meeting, the Prime Minister noted the mutual interest to promote cooperation between Bulgaria and Türkiye in economy, trade and connectivity.
